BLR Entertainment launched their one-month promotional campaign for the first-ever Spring Music Festival and Conference. The press conference was very well attended, with many of the festival sponsors on hand to offer their support. Photos and captions of the event are coming soon...

With less than one month to go, the event organizer's have confirmed more than 95% of the acts slated to play at more than 10 clubs in 2 cities. The big announcement was brought to us by Laura Holbrook, owner of Hamilton's longest-running night club, Seventy Seven.

The club, who has signed on to play host to the official "Kick-ass, Kick-off party", will feature a reunion of JUNKHOUSE. According to SMF Marketing Director Rob Rapiti, "I can't believe that this is happening. I mean, having one of the city's most successful and longest-lasting bands as our kick-off headliner, I couldn't ask for a better night. The mere fact that these guys have agreed to reunite after nearly 5 years is reason to celebrate."

SMF Brings music industry heavy-weights to the Hammer!

Why are American labels signing more and more Canadian acts? What is it that these bands have that make them more attractive than your typical local indie act? The Spring Music Conference hopes to de-mystify what we call the "music industry".

We have already received firm commitments from various producers, booking agents and radio personnel who are expected to speak at the conference, and will attempt to de-mystify the enigma that many young musicians call the Canadian Music Industry.
