Hamilton - Fresh off of the heals of a
wildly successful press conference, the
organizer’s of the first annual Spring Music
Festival have just signed an exclusive Hamilton
appearance for Jive/Zomba recording act 3
Days Grace. |
 |
|
Having already shared the stage with the likes
of Nickelback, IME, Default and Theory of a
Deadman, this Toronto-based threesome
(originally from Norwood, ON) is poised to gain
international notoriety very quickly. Their
current single “I hate everything about you” is
a perfect example, having been instantly added
to rotation on 102.1 the Edge. |
 |
|
In addition to firming up an all-star festival
roster, the event organizers have been engaged
in planning the music conference portion of the
event. Confirmed panelists include Alan Cross
(Y108 PD/Ongoing History of New Music), Tom
Wilson (Junkhouse), Sarah Parham (Coalition
Entertainment/Finger 11), Doug Kirby (Live Tour
Artists/WOW Management), as well as local
luminaries Ric Taylor and Les Polango. |
 |
|
The latest band to join the growing SMF band
list is the ever-popular Bobby Hebert
Experience, who will be performing at the
recently opened Downstairs club, run by local
promoter/musician Bobby Hebert. Both nights of
the festival will feature the band, along with a
rotating line up of celebrity musicians. |
 |
|
Recent sponsors to join the growing list include
Swordfish Digital Audio and Soundcheck Rehearsal
Studios. All under one roof, these companies
provide musicians with all of the necessary
services needed, including recording,
manufacturing, and rehearsal facilities. |
 |
|
And for those wishing to do some club hopping at
the festival, the SMF Philthy Bus will be
rolling on Saturday May 10th to various SMF
venues. For details, please call (905) 383-5669. |
 |
|
As always tickets for the festival are currently
on sale at Tickmaster, and both festival and
conference passes are available at Dr. Disc and
Wax Worx in downtown Hamilton; Evolushun on
Upper James; and Screamin’ Mimi’s on Brant St.
in Burlington. |

With less than one month to go, the event organizer's have confirmed more than 95% of the acts slated to play at more than 10 clubs in 2 cities. The big announcement was brought to us by Laura Holbrook, owner of Hamilton's longest-running night club, Seventy Seven. |
 |
|
The club, who has signed on to play host to the official "Kick-ass, Kick-off party", will feature a reunion of
JUNKHOUSE. According to SMF Marketing Director Rob Rapiti, "I can't believe that this is happening. I mean, having one of the city's most successful and longest-lasting bands as our kick-off headliner, I couldn't ask for a better night. The mere fact that these guys have agreed to reunite after nearly 5 years is reason to celebrate." |
 |
|
Festival Schedule |
 |
|
The festival expects to have headliners at most of our venues, along with a "major" headliner at one or more venue each night.

SMF Brings music industry heavy-weights to the Hammer! |
 |
|
Why are American labels signing more and more Canadian acts? What is it that these bands have that make them more attractive than your typical local indie act? The Spring Music Conference hopes to de-mystify what we call the "music industry". |
 |
|
We have already received firm commitments from various producers, booking agents and radio personnel who are expected to speak at the conference, and will attempt to de-mystify the enigma that many young musicians call the Canadian Music Industry.
